The Sylph European Classics Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire Jonathan David Gross Books
I loved this book.Do you like romance, surprise, the Georgian Era, fictional books written by famous people, or epistolary novels? If the answer is "yes" to any one of those, I suggest you read this book.
A little while ago I bought the outstanding biography "Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire" and enjoyed every minute of it. Upon reading it, I discovered the famous Duchess I was reading about had written two novels in her life time! As I had fallen in love with the book I was reading, I knew I had to go find the books the much-admired Duchess wrote. This is one of them. I bought it in an instant without a second thought (usually I take an awfully long time trying to decide which books to get), and I never regretted it. It was excellently written, and it was interesting to see the very different to today style of an 18th century authoress. I don't want to give any spoilers, but this book definitely had some moments where its sudden turns caught me by surprise! And if epistolary novels aren't your thing, try this one anyways. The letters are exchanged in such a way that makes you feel as if you're simultaneously getting an inside peek of the characters' hearts while still sometimes remaining a little fly on the 18th century paneled wall.
As soon as I finished it, I was instantly ready to go read the Duchess's other book - Emma, or, The Unfortunate Attachment!

The Sylph European Classics Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire Jonathan David Gross Books Reviews
the book came in great shape and very quickly! It took a little longer to read it (slow start) than to ship it.
I loved this womam after hearing/seeing her story. And was very intreaged by the beginning, Georgina writes in a males perspective. But as it went on I felt that it was very stop and go. There were pages where I just felt went on and on and others that I couldnt get enough of. I didnt care for the ending, but over all I guess I would say that I liked it.
I was very pleased with this book overall. It went from a slow start to a great read! It provides a glimpse into the life and times of the du monde of the period. On the downside, the book is one of the most poorly edited I've seen in a long time. Ran across many obvious misplaced works such as carnage in place of carriage. There were dangling lines and breaks in text as well as misspelled words. The editor did a very poor job. It does not detract much from the book which is still a very fun read.
The commentation of the author is long winded, drawn out and ruins the actual story.
Good read, once you get past the tedious first chapter. I bought it as background for a tour that included a visit to the author's country home--Chatsworth.
great so far but I think the biography at the beginning is a little redundant since I also purchased Georgiana's biography. I'm slightly obsessed with her!!
I loved this book.
